FROM OUR NIGERIAN FRIENDS

Segun was born with deformed hands and feet.

We have spoken to Shriner's Hospital in Los Angeles, and sent his x rays to be examined.

He is getting a passport.

Hopefully we can bring him to California to have corrective surgery soon.

FROM OUR INDIAN FRIENDS

Dear and Most Respected Madam,

Greetings and love from your Indian friend Kasthuri Paulraj. It's been some time since I wrote you. I'm thankful for this privilege to write you and appeal for some medical support for Ramya, one of our children in our Orphanage.

Last week, we took her for a primary medical check for her cleft foot correction. Christian Medical College and Hospital, one of the most popular hospitals in India, my wife Kasthuri is a graduate from this college, is located in our Town and so we took her there. The doctor has suggested that she should be treated with POP for about two to three months and then a required surgery. The cost estimation is given and it is in Indian Rupees 50,000 (US$1100 approximately) apart from additional home care during and after the treatment, which might be about US$ 300 - 400. Here with attached the estimation given by that doctor concern. This morning we underwent the first day of her treatment. I've attached the scanned copy of the budget estimation and the photography taken at the hospital this morning.

Since we are at the early stage of the establishment of our orphanage we don't have any special fund to treat such ailment. To be very frank with you, we started to explore this kind of big treatment on the basis of your expressed interest in supporting this kind of medical need.

Ramya's father is a victim of HIV/AIDS and passed away about two years ago and her mother is also a patient and is dying at home. She has an elder brother and an elder sister. Her elder sister Kavitha (12 yrs) is being cared at our orphanage. Ranjith (14 yrs) is assisting his dying mother at home. Ramya is a very bright girl who excels in her studies. It is disheartening to see her going ot school bare footed while others go with their shoes and chapels. We were praying for the right time that we might take her for necessary medical treatment. We do believe that our prayers are heard once you expressed a word of interest in supporting her medical need.

In our online conversation through FACEBOOK, you suggested that I should send the Xray of her legs. This morning she underwent an Xray, but it was not possible for us to get a copy of it as it has several procedures in obtaining a copy of it. We are asked her to take her for the check up by next week, and then there'll be another Xray test. I'll try to get to you a copy of her Xray.

Kindly go through the attachment. Recently our orphanage project was published in The Hindu, the top most daily of India. The chief editor was very much appreciative of our service to the orphans and so published it on his own interest at free of cost. I've attached a copy of it. In order to keep the size of the file I've scanned a portion of the article published. Please comment when time permits. Thank you...

with love and thanks
Paulraj
